8113On Monday the 14th of March, SESID Primary Puxi campus went virtual. The foreign department staff, students, and guardians have successfully adjusted to online teaching thanks to the great support from the administration, parents, and Classin!

To keep students in a routine, we have maintained the same class schedule.They join all of their classes on time and prepared. Our students have been doing an excellent job adjusting to this new way of learning. We have found that with the combination of prior experience and the student’s knowledge of technology, they have been able to adapt very smoothly to virtual learning.
为了让学生保持常规化学习，我们根据原课表进行线上教学。他们按时参加所有的课程，并做好准备。结合之前的经验和技术知识，学生们平稳过渡到了线上教学。
With a full schedule of daily learning, we must be mindful of student’s eye health and physical and mental well-being. We have adjusted our class times from 35 minutes to 30 minutes with longer breaks in between. This is a great chance for students and teachers to get up, move around, do a silly dance, get a snack, or take a water break.
除了完整的日常学习计划，我们必须注意学生的眼睛和身心健康。因此，我们把上课时间从35分钟调整到30分钟，这样休息时间可以更长。学生和老师都可以起身动一动，走一走，跳一跳，吃吃点零食，喝点水。
ELA teachers have been maintaining the structure and flow of our Wonders program by making each class have a focus and fun; F&F! Each day teachers arrive to class early to set up their virtual classrooms and prepare for that day’s lessons. Arriving early gives each leveled class a chance for students to meet their classmates, ask the teachers a question, or
just have a fun chat before class begins. Students have been exposed to a variety of learning opportunities such as Wonders Connected website, online games, multimedia, songs and dance, and opportunities to work in teams through breakout classrooms. A big highlight of virtual learning has been the ability for each child to have an opportunity to display their knowledge through interactive and fun lessons. Reading, writing, vocabulary, phonics, and speaking practice is part of our everyday ELA classes. Students have been doing a wonderful job and we are very proud of them.

STEM has also gone online with Teacher AB! Grades 1-3 have been focusing on the question: “Which pillars cross section is the strongest?” Each grade is tailored to their learning level. For grades 4-5, students are learning about Coding Arduino circuit using online TINKERCAD simulator. The class is mainly about coding blinking LEDs using C++. All STEM classes include brainstorming, educational videos, discussion, and optional homework. So cool!

Online classes have been going great and with the support of the administration, staff members, guardians, and students, we have experienced continued success through online learning. Let’s continue doing our best and we look forward to meeting in person again!
